Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fel-O-Vax 3 is an inactivated (killed virus) vaccine designed to protect healthy cats and kittens (8 weeks of age or older) against three significant feline infectious diseases: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Caliciviral Disease, and Feline Panleukopenia. The vaccine contains inactivated viral antigens from Feline Herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1), Feline Calicivirus (FCV), and Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV). By presenting these killed antigens, the vaccine stimulates an active immune response, aiding in the reduction of clinical signs and severity of disease upon exposure. Originally developed by Fort Dodge Animal Health, the product line was acquired by Boehringer Ingelheim and subsequently transitioned to Elanco Animal Health as part of a divestiture of companion animal vaccines. It is typically administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection in a two-dose primary series, followed by annual revaccination.
