Overview
Felbinac is a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the arylacetic acid class. It is primarily used to treat pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle strains, sprains, soft tissue injuries, rheumatic pain, and arthritis. Felbinac acts as an active metabolite of fenbufen and works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins—key mediators of inflammation and pain.
