Feline Leukemia Virus Monoclonal Antibody is a veterinary biologic developed by Elanco (originally Kindred Biosciences) for the treatment of cats infected with Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). As the first monoclonal antibody therapy for this indication, it provides a targeted approach to managing FeLV-associated disease. The antibody works by binding to specific viral proteins, typically the gp70 envelope glycoprotein, thereby neutralizing the virus and preventing it from infecting new feline cells. This reduction in viral replication helps to mitigate the clinical signs and progression of the disease. It received conditional approval from the USDA Center for Veterinary Biologics in 2023, specifically for the treatment of FeLV-infected cats to help reduce the clinical signs of the infection.
