Overview

Felzartamab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets CD38, a protein highly expressed on mature plasma cells and malignant plasma cells. By binding to CD38 on the surface of these cells, felzartamab induces their depletion primarily through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP), without involving complement-dependent cytotoxicity. It is being developed as an immunotherapy for immune-mediated diseases such as primary membranous nephropathy (PMN), antibody-mediated rejection in kidney transplant recipients, multiple myeloma, IgA nephropathy, and lupus nephritis. Felzartamab has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation and Orphan Drug Designation from the FDA for PMN and antibody-mediated rejection in kidney transplant patients[1][3][4][5][6][8].
