Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FEMALAC is a medical product (medical device) developed by Apogepha for the prevention and supportive treatment of recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and bladder infections (cystitis) caused by *E. coli*. The formulation consists of 2g of D-mannose combined with two probiotic strains, *Lactobacillus rhamnosus* and *Lactobacillus reuteri*. D-mannose functions by binding to the fimbriae of *E. coli* bacteria, preventing their attachment to the urinary tract lining and facilitating their removal via urination. The lactobacilli help to stabilize the vaginal and urinary microbiome and maintain an acidic pH, creating an environment less conducive to pathogen growth. It is provided as a drinking powder for oral administration.
