Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Femiest is a low-dose vaginal estrogen therapy containing estradiol hemihydrate, equivalent to 10 mcg of 17β-estradiol. It is formulated as a vaginal tablet specifically designed for local administration to treat the genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). The drug acts as a potent agonist of estrogen receptors in the vaginal and urethral tissues, promoting the maturation of the vaginal epithelium, improving tissue elasticity, and restoring a healthy vaginal pH. This localized action helps alleviate symptoms such as vaginal atrophy, dryness, dyspareunia, and various lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), including urgency and frequency, with minimal systemic absorption.
