Fenarazine

Fenarazine (brand name: Fenaraze) is a topical small molecule drug developed by HELP Pharmaceuticals SA, containing diclofenac sodium 3% as its active ingredient. It is formulated as a topical gel intended for the treatment of actinic keratosis (solar keratosis), a pre-cancerous skin condition caused by chronic sun exposure. Diclofenac sodium is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) whose mechanism of action in actinic keratosis involves the inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes—particularly COX-2—thereby reducing arachidonic acid metabolism and prostaglandin synthesis. This reduction in prostaglandins is believed to inhibit the proliferation of dysplastic keratinocytes. Fenarazine has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to assess its efficacy and safety in patients with actinic keratoses.
