fenbendazole

Fenbendazole is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic used primarily in veterinary medicine to treat gastrointestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, certain tapeworms (Taenia genus), pinworms, strongyles, and giardia in animals including dogs, cats (off-label), horses, cattle, goats, rabbits, sheep and laboratory rodents. Its mechanism of action involves binding to beta-tubulin in parasite cells and disrupting microtubule formation. This disruption impairs cell division and glucose uptake by the parasite—ultimately leading to energy depletion and death of the parasite. Fenbendazole is poorly absorbed orally so it acts mainly within the gut lumen[1][2][3][5][6]. It is not approved for human use but has been discussed anecdotally for potential anti-cancer effects; however there are no clinical trials supporting its use for cancer therapy in humans[5].
