Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fenestra is a specialized line of iodinated lipid emulsion contrast agents designed for preclinical micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) imaging in small animal models. The product family includes Fenestra LC (Liver Contrast), Fenestra VC (Vascular Contrast), and Fenestra HD (High Density). Fenestra LC is formulated to mimic chylomicron remnants, enabling selective sequestration by hepatocytes via the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor pathway. This targeted uptake allows for high-resolution imaging of the liver parenchyma and the identification of hepatic lesions, such as primary tumors or metastases, in rodent models. Fenestra VC serves as a long-circulating blood-pool agent, providing stable contrast for vascular and cardiac imaging over several hours. Originally developed by Alerion Biomedical and currently marketed by MediLumine, these agents are essential tools for longitudinal research in oncology, cardiology, and metabolic diseases, though they are not intended for human clinical use.
