Fengshi Gutong Capsule

Fengshi Gutong Capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula approved by the China Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of osteoarthritis and other rheumatic conditions. It is composed of seven herbs, including Aconiti Radix Cocta, with major active components such as ursolic acid, kaempferol, ephedrine, hydroxysafflor yellow A, and glycyrrhizic acid. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of inflammatory pathways—specifically restraining activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK), nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), activator protein-1 (AP-1), and Akt—which leads to reduced production of inflammatory mediators in synovial cells. Pharmacological studies suggest multi-component and multi-target effects that improve immune-inflammatory responses in osteoarthritis[1][3][4][7].
