**Fenofibric acid + rosuvastatin** is an investigational oral fixed-dose lipid-modifying combination developed as **ABT-143**. Fenofibric acid activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha to enhance triglyceride-rich lipoprotein clearance, reduce triglycerides, and increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Rosuvastatin competitively inhibits 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, reducing hepatic cholesterol synthesis and increasing hepatic clearance of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. The combination was evaluated in phase 3 studies for hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia, including dyslipidemia in stage 3 chronic kidney disease, as well as phase 1 pharmacokinetic studies.
