Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fenoget is a marketed generic formulation of fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative developed and manufactured by Getz Pharma. It is indicated as an adjunctive therapy to diet for the treatment of adult patients with primary hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and hypertriglyceridemia. Fenoget works as an agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha), which activates lipoprotein lipase and reduces the production of apolipoprotein C-III, thereby enhancing the clearance of triglyceride-rich particles and improving the overall lipid profile by lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol, and triglycerides, while increasing high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
