Fenpyroximate is a synthetic acaricide and insecticide belonging to the pyrazole chemical class. It is primarily used for the control of phytophagous mites and certain insects on a wide range of crops, including fruits, vegetables, cotton, soybeans, and ornamentals. Fenpyroximate acts as a mitochondrial electron transport inhibitor (METI), specifically inhibiting complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase) in the mitochondrial respiratory chain. This inhibition disrupts cellular respiration in target pests by blocking proton translocation and ubiquinone reduction, leading to rapid cessation of feeding and reproduction followed by death within days. The compound works mainly through contact action; thorough spray coverage is essential for efficacy. Fenpyroximate has no cross-resistance with conventional acaricides outside the METI group and is considered safe for non-target organisms when used as directed[2][3][4][5][7].
