Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fenqinghuazhuo is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the Shanxi Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically indicated for the treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). The formula is designed based on the TCM therapeutic principle of "separating the clear and transforming the turbid" to address the underlying pathology of damp-heat and blood stasis in the kidneys. Mechanistically, Fenqinghuazhuo has been shown to modulate the immune system by restoring the balance between Th17 and Treg cells and reducing the levels of inflammatory cytokines. It also appears to inhibit the deposition of immune complexes and the activation of the complement system on the glomerular basement membrane, thereby protecting podocytes and reducing proteinuria. It is typically administered orally as a decoction or in granule form.
