fentanyl + droperidol

This drug is a fixed combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients—fentanyl, a highly potent synthetic opioid analgesic, and droperidol, a butyrophenone derivative antipsychotic with dopamine antagonist properties. The combination is primarily used to induce neuroleptanalgesia—a state characterized by profound sedation (tranquilization), analgesia (pain relief), and indifference to surroundings while maintaining the ability to cooperate with medical staff. Fentanyl acts as an agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, providing rapid-onset pain relief and sedation. Droperidol acts mainly as an antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors in the central nervous system, producing tranquilization and antiemetic effects. This combination has been used for anesthesia adjunct during surgical or diagnostic procedures, especially in otorhinolaryngological surgery and for management of equilibratory disturbances such as those seen in Meniere's syndrome[1][3][8]. Both drugs were originally synthesized by Janssen Pharmaceutica.
