Overview

Feracrylum is a synthetic polyacrylic polymer used as a topical hemostatic and antiseptic agent. It is primarily indicated for the control of bleeding in wounds, burns, post-operative sites, dental extractions, and oral surgeries. Feracrylum acts by forming a complex with albumin and other blood proteins at the site of application, creating a physical barrier that promotes rapid clot formation within 2–3 minutes. Its mechanism involves activation of thrombin (factor IIa), which converts fibrinogen to fibrin to stabilize clots. Additionally, feracrylum exhibits antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as fungi, reducing infection risk in treated wounds. Its hygroscopic properties help maintain moisture at the wound site for faster healing and easier dressing removal[1][2][4][5][6][7][8]. Developers: Themis Medicare
