Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ferli-6 is an oral iron and vitamin B-complex supplement manufactured by Continental Pharm. It is formulated with ferrous fumarate, which provides elemental iron, in combination with vitamins B1 (thiamine), B6 (pyridoxine), and B12 (cyanocobalamin). The product is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency anemia, particularly in pregnant women where nutritional demands are elevated. It was notably used as the oral comparator in a Mahidol University clinical trial (NCT00746551) evaluating the efficacy of low-dose intravenous iron sucrose versus oral iron for replenishing iron stores in the third trimester of pregnancy. The iron component is essential for hemoglobin production, while the B vitamins serve as cofactors in erythropoiesis and cellular metabolism.
