Overview

Ferric bepectate is an investigational, modified starch-based iron nanoparticle complex designed for high-dose intravenous (IV) iron therapy. Developed by iron4u in collaboration with Serumwerk Bernburg, it utilizes a proprietary encapsulation technology to deliver a total dose of iron in a single administration. The modified starch matrix is engineered to stabilize the iron nanoparticles, thereby minimizing the release of labile (free) iron, which reduces the risk of oxidative stress and infusion-related reactions. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in patients requiring significant iron replenishment.
