Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ferro Zinc is an oral fixed-dose combination therapy containing iron and zinc, specifically evaluated by Hacettepe University for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in pediatric populations. The formulation is designed to replenish elemental iron stores to support hemoglobin synthesis while simultaneously addressing potential concurrent zinc deficiency, which often complicates IDA in children. The drug was the subject of a randomized, open-label clinical trial (NCT02076828) conducted at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, where its efficacy in restoring hematological parameters was compared against standard iron monotherapies such as ferrous sulfate (Ferro Sanol) and iron polymaltose complex (Santafer).
