ferroglycine sulfate

Ferroglycine sulfate is an oral iron(II) complex used for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. It consists of ferrous sulfate chelated with the amino acid glycine, a formulation designed to improve gastrointestinal tolerability and enhance iron absorption compared to standard ferrous salts. By providing a source of elemental iron, it supports the synthesis of hemoglobin in red blood cells and myoglobin in muscle tissues, as well as the function of various iron-dependent enzymes.
