Drug intelligence / Profile preview
R.B. Tone XT is an approved, oral, film-coated haematinic combination tablet manufactured by Medley Pharmaceuticals. It is formulated with ferrous ascorbate (equivalent to 100 mg elemental iron), folic acid (1500 mcg), and zinc sulfate monohydrate (equivalent to 22.5 mg elemental zinc). This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of pregnancy-induced anaemia, general weakness, and iron, folic acid, and zinc deficiency states. Ferrous ascorbate provides a highly bioavailable and stable chelate of iron and vitamin C, which enhances iron absorption while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects. Folic acid is essential for red blood cell formation, DNA synthesis, and fetal neural tube development, while zinc supports maternal immune function, fetal growth, and neurobehavioral development.
