Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ferrous sulfate + folic acid is a fixed-dose combination of two essential nutrients: iron (in the form of ferrous sulfate) and vitamin B9 (folic acid). This combination is primarily used to treat or prevent anemia caused by deficiencies in both iron and folate, such as during pregnancy, periods of rapid growth, or in certain chronic conditions. Ferrous sulfate replenishes body iron stores necessary for hemoglobin synthesis and oxygen transport, while folic acid supports DNA synthesis and red blood cell formation. Together, they address the dual causes of megaloblastic and microcytic anemia[1][2][6][7].
