Overview

Fertilo is an investigational cell therapy developed by Gameto, Inc. for the treatment of infertility, specifically aimed at improving in vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes. The product consists of engineered ovarian support cells (OSCs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These cells are designed to mimic the natural human ovarian environment, providing the necessary signals and support to mature immature eggs (oocytes) outside the body. By using Fertilo, clinicians can potentially reduce the requirement for high-dose hormonal stimulation (gonadotropins) by up to 80%, thereby lowering the burden of injections and the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) for women undergoing assisted reproductive technologies. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development.
