Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Itorelin is a veterinary pharmaceutical product containing fertirelin acetate, a synthetic nonapeptide analog of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). Developed and marketed by the Japanese company ILS Co., Ltd., it is administered via injection to treat reproductive disorders in livestock, particularly cattle. As a GnRH receptor agonist, fertirelin stimulates the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary gland, which in turn promotes the development of ovarian follicles and induces ovulation. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of ovarian follicular cysts and the synchronization of estrus to improve conception rates in dairy and beef cattle. Itorelin is positioned within the ILS portfolio as an established generic pharmaceutical product.
