Overview

festuca elatior pollen extract, depigmented polymerized is an allergen immunotherapy (AIT) product developed by LETI Pharma. It consists of pollen extracts from Meadow Fescue (Festuca elatior) that have undergone a depigmentation process to remove non-allergenic components like pigments and flavonoids, followed by polymerization with glutaraldehyde. This chemical modification creates 'allergoids,' which exhibit significantly reduced IgE-binding capacity, thereby lowering the risk of systemic allergic reactions during administration. Despite the reduced allergenicity, the extract retains its immunogenicity, stimulating T-cell responses and inducing the production of allergen-specific IgG4 antibodies to promote long-term clinical tolerance. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and allergic asthma triggered by grass pollen.
