Overview

FeT is an investigational iron-based coordination complex composed of ferric ions (Fe3+), ferricyanide, and tartrate, structurally related to Prussian Blue. It is being researched as a potential antiproliferative agent, with studies demonstrating its ability to induce cell death in human bladder cancer cells (T24). The drug's mechanism of action involves the peroxidation of unsaturated fatty acids, leading to oxidative stress and the induction of ferroptosis. FeT self-assembles into drop-like nanostructures (10–130 nm) in aqueous solutions and can bind to albumin. Its activity is significantly enhanced by light, suggesting potential applications in photodynamic therapy.
