fexuprazan

Fexuprazan is a novel small molecule potassium‐competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) developed for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal diseases, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and gastritis. It acts by reversibly inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase enzyme in parietal cells, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion. Fexuprazan demonstrates rapid onset and sustained duration of action, with efficacy shown in both acute and chronic gastritis as well as erosive esophagitis. The drug also exhibits anti-inflammatory effects and may protect against esophageal cell damage by inhibiting inflammation pathways such as NLRP1/Caspase‑1/Gasdermin D pyroptosis[1][3][4][6][8]. It is approved for clinical use in South Korea, Mexico, Philippines, Chile, and Ecuador.
