Overview

FF-31501 is a recombinant human stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1, also known as CXCL12) being developed by FUJIFILM Toyama Chemical for the treatment of meniscus tears. Administered via intra-articular injection, the drug functions as a chemoattractant to recruit endogenous mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to the site of the tear, thereby promoting the natural healing and regeneration of the meniscus tissue. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials in Japan for patients eligible for meniscectomy, aiming to improve knee joint function and potentially avoid the need for surgical removal of the meniscus.
