Overview

An fgfr1 antisense oligonucleotide is a phosphorothioate-modified antisense oligonucleotide designed to inhibit the expression of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1). By binding to FGFR1 mRNA, it reduces the production of the FGFR1 protein and its high-affinity bFGF binding sites. This mechanism has shown to suppress the growth of human glioblastoma-derived cell lines, suggesting its potential as a targeted therapy for malignant astrocytomas where FGFR1 overexpression contributes to proliferation.
