FGFR2 siRNA is a research-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) modality designed to silence or knock down the expression of the Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 2 (FGFR2) gene. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, these molecules target and degrade FGFR2 mRNA transcripts, thereby reducing the levels of FGFR2 protein and inhibiting downstream signaling pathways such as MAPK/ERK and PI3K/AKT. This modality is primarily used in preclinical research to investigate the role of FGFR2 mutations in various conditions, including Crouzon syndrome (a rare craniofacial disorder caused by gain-of-function mutations) and several cancers like endometrial, gastric, and cervical cancer. Recent research has explored advanced delivery methods, such as human recombinant ferritin nanoparticles, for allele-specific targeting in genetic disorders to minimize off-target effects while effectively reducing mutant protein levels.
