FH-1 is an experimental **small molecule** used primarily as a hepatocyte differentiation and maturation enhancer in research settings rather than as an approved therapeutic drug. It was identified in a high-throughput screen reported by researchers associated with Harvard and the Broad Institute as part of efforts to generate renewable sources of functional human hepatocytes. FH-1 has been shown to enhance hepatocyte function and to promote maturation of induced pluripotent stem cell derived hepatocyte-like cells toward a more adult-like phenotype, with reported increases in markers such as albumin secretion and CYP activity in vitro. Commercial reagent vendors also describe FH-1 as an **NQO2 inhibitor**, but its therapeutically relevant target biology remains incompletely established, and there is no clear evidence that it has advanced as a marketed pharmaceutical for a defined clinical indication.
