FH-MCVA2TCR is an autologous, gene-modified cell therapy in which a patient’s own CD8+ and CD4+ T lymphocytes are engineered to express a specific HLA-A02-restricted T-cell receptor (TCR) that targets the Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV). Upon reinfusion, these modified cells selectively bind to MCPyV antigens presented by tumor cells, potentially resulting in an anti-tumor immune response and inhibition of tumor proliferation. The therapy is being developed primarily for the treatment of advanced or metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare but aggressive skin cancer often associated with MCPyV infection. The main developers are bluebird bio and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center[1][3][5].
