Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FI-RSV is a formalin-inactivated vaccine candidate developed by the National Institute of Diagnostics and Vaccine Development in Infectious Diseases (NIDVD) at Xiamen University for the prevention of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) infection. The vaccine is designed to induce protective immune responses against the virus by presenting inactivated viral particles to the immune system. Historically, formalin-inactivated RSV vaccines were associated with vaccine-enhanced respiratory disease (ERD) in clinical trials during the 1960s; however, modern research by NIDVD focuses on optimizing the inactivation process and formulation to ensure safety and efficacy. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
