Overview

FIB991 is a small molecule drug candidate developed by Fibrocor Therapeutics. It acts as a modulator of the YAP/TAZ pathway, which is a crucial mechanotransduction pathway involved in fibrotic processes. By inhibiting the YAP/TAZ pathway, FIB991 aims to prevent the activation of fibroblasts and halt the progression of fibrosis. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its potent anti-fibrotic activities in both lung and kidney models. The drug is currently in lead optimization, with the selection of a pre-clinical candidate imminent, and clinical trials are planned to commence in 2025 for chronic allograft nephropathy.
