Overview

Fibrin MB (Fibrin Microbeads) is a specialized biomaterial platform developed primarily for cell isolation, expansion, and delivery. These microbeads are composed of fibrin, a natural protein involved in blood clotting, and are engineered to provide a three-dimensional scaffold that mimics the extracellular matrix. This environment is particularly conducive to the attachment and growth of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and other progenitor cells. Beyond cell culture, Fibrin MB has been investigated as a delivery vehicle for therapeutic cells and bioactive molecules, leveraging fibrin's inherent biocompatibility and biodegradability. The technology was notably advanced by researchers and companies like Pluristem Therapeutics (now Pluri Inc.) to optimize the yield and therapeutic potential of placenta-derived cells for various regenerative medicine indications.
