Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fibrin Pad is a fully absorbable biosurgical product candidate designed for the management and rapid control of mild, moderate, and severe bleeding during surgery. It builds on aprotinin-free fibrin sealant technology similar to that used in EVICEL Fibrin Sealant (Human). The Fibrin Pad combines medical device components with proprietary biological elements—specifically human-derived fibrinogen and thrombin—which form an instant clot upon contact with blood. Its mechanism of action is to promote hemostasis by mimicking the final steps of the coagulation cascade, resulting in rapid clot formation at the site of application. The product was developed by Omrix Biopharmaceuticals as a next-generation hemostatic agent for surgical use[6].
