Human fibrin sealant is a topical hemostatic agent and tissue adhesive derived from human plasma, designed to facilitate wound closure and control bleeding during surgical procedures. It is a combination product typically consisting of two primary components: a concentrated fibrinogen solution (which often includes coagulation factor XIII) and a thrombin solution. When applied to a surgical site, the thrombin catalyzes the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin, mimicking the final stage of the physiological coagulation cascade to form a stable, insoluble fibrin clot. This clot adheres to the tissue, providing a physical barrier that promotes hemostasis and supports tissue sealing. Sichuan Yuanda Shuyang Pharmaceutical is developing a human fibrin sealant kit, which is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials (e.g., CTR20254119) for its efficacy and safety in achieving local hemostasis during hepatic surgery.
