FIBVax is an investigational therapeutic vaccine developed by West China Hospital of Sichuan University for the treatment of diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis (dcSSc) and associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD). The vaccine is designed to elicit a targeted immune response against activated fibroblasts, which are the primary drivers of pathological collagen deposition and tissue fibrosis in systemic sclerosis. Specifically, FIBVax targets **Fibroblast Activation Protein alpha (FAP)**, a marker highly expressed on activated fibroblasts but minimally present in normal adult tissues. By inducing an immune-mediated depletion or inhibition of these fibrotic cells, FIBVax aims to reduce skin thickening and improve lung function. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1, single-arm, open-label clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, optimal dosing, and preliminary immunogenicity in adult patients.
