Overview

AV-299 (ficlatuzumab) is a potent anti-hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) monoclonal antibody developed by AVEO Pharmaceuticals. It targets and neutralizes HGF to inhibit the HGF/c-Met signaling pathway implicated in tumor growth and metastasis. Erlotinib is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor marketed as Tarceva. The combination of ficlatuzumab (AV-299) with erlotinib has been investigated for enhanced anti-tumor activity in cancers characterized by aberrant HGF/c-Met and EGFR signaling, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Preclinical studies demonstrated additive effects when both drugs were used together. Clinical trials have evaluated this combination for safety and efficacy in patients with solid tumors including NSCLC[3][4].
