Ficus glomerata latex is a milky sap harvested from the *Ficus glomerata* tree, also widely known by its botanical synonym *Ficus racemosa* or the Cluster Fig. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine, this latex contains a variety of bioactive constituents including the proteolytic enzyme ficin, lupeol, beta-sitosterol, and gluanol acetate. It is recognized for its hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activities. The latex is primarily indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, and skin conditions such as boils and inflammatory wounds. Its therapeutic mechanism involves the enzymatic action of cysteine proteases (ficin) which aids in wound debridement and tissue repair, alongside secondary metabolites that modulate glucose metabolism and oxidative stress pathways.
