Fidgetin-like 2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate developed by MicroCures to promote tissue repair and nerve regeneration. The drug works by silencing the expression of Fidgetin-like 2 (FL2), a microtubule-severing enzyme that normally restricts cell migration and axonal growth by destabilizing the microtubule cytoskeleton. By knocking down FL2, the siRNA allows for increased microtubule polymerization and stability, thereby accelerating the migration of cells (such as keratinocytes and fibroblasts) into wound sites and promoting the elongation of axons following nerve injury. MicroCures is investigating this approach for various indications, including neurotrophic keratitis, corneal alkaline burns, and peripheral nerve injuries.
