Overview

Filapixant (BAY1902607) is a potent and selective small molecule antagonist of the P2X3 receptor, developed through a collaboration between Bayer and Evotec. It is chemically related to eliapixant but demonstrates significantly higher in vitro selectivity for the P2X3 subtype over P2X2. The drug has been investigated for the treatment of refractory chronic cough and endometriosis. In clinical development, it has undergone Phase 1 studies to evaluate its pharmacokinetics, including interactions with CYP3A4 inhibitors like itraconazole, and Phase 2a trials for respiratory indications.
