Overview

Filgrastim + lenograstim is a combination of two recombinant granulocyte colony-stimulating factors (G-CSFs) used to stimulate the production of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell, in patients at risk for or experiencing neutropenia. Both agents act by binding to the G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow, promoting proliferation and differentiation into mature neutrophils. Filgrastim is produced in E. coli and is non-glycosylated, while lenograstim is produced in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and is glycosylated, more closely resembling endogenous human G-CSF[5]. Both are indicated for reducing infection risk after cytotoxic chemotherapy or stem cell transplantation and for mobilizing peripheral blood progenitor cells[2][4][6]. Their mechanisms are essentially identical; clinical studies show similar efficacy profiles with minor pharmacological differences due to their molecular structure[1][3][5].
