Filricianine (IS-001) is a small molecule fluorescent imaging agent developed by Intuitive Surgical to enhance the intraoperative visualization of the ureters. Administered via intravenous injection, the compound is rapidly cleared by the kidneys and concentrated in the urine, allowing the ureters to fluoresce under near-infrared (NIR) light. It is specifically designed for use with the da Vinci Surgical System's Firefly fluorescence imaging technology. The primary clinical objective is to assist surgeons in identifying and protecting the ureters during robotic-assisted abdominal and pelvic surgeries, such as colorectal and gynecological procedures, thereby reducing the risk of accidental iatrogenic injury.
