fimasartan

Fimasartan is a selective angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1) antagonist used primarily for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. It works by blocking the AT1 receptor, preventing angiotensin II-induced vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. This leads to vasodilation, reduced sodium and water retention, decreased blood volume, and ultimately lowered blood pressure. Fimasartan is a non-peptide small molecule developed in South Korea and marketed under the brand name Kanarb by Boryung Pharmaceuticals. It has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in experimental models by modulating inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB and NLRP3 inflammasome after brain injury.
