FIN-525 is an investigational, orally administered microbiome therapeutic candidate developed by Finch Therapeutics for the treatment of Crohn's disease. [1] It is a 'Targeted Consortia' product composed of both spore-forming and non-spore-forming bacterial strains selected for their potential immuno-modulatory properties. [1, 2] The strains were identified using Finch's machine-learning platform based on data from microbiota transplantation studies in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), with the goal of targeting multiple mechanisms of action. [1] Manufacturing is donor-independent, with the strains grown from master cell banks. [1, 2] Finch entered into a collaboration with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company for its development, but Takeda terminated the agreement in August 2022, effective November 17, 2022, returning all rights to Finch. [2] Following the termination and a subsequent strategic review, Finch halted spending on its IBD program. [6]
