Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FIN-CoV-2 is an intranasal COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed by Rokote Laboratories Finland Oy. It utilizes a replication-deficient adenovirus vector (Ad5) to deliver the genetic sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein directly to the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. This approach is designed to induce both systemic immunity and local mucosal immunity (IgA), potentially blocking the virus at its point of entry and reducing transmission more effectively than intramuscular injections. The vaccine is based on research from the University of Eastern Finland and the University of Helsinki.
