Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Finasteride + minoxidil (brand name: SiloxysSystem™ Gel) is a compounded topical combination therapy developed by XYON Health for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern hair loss). The formulation utilizes XYON's proprietary SiloxysSystem™ Gel technology, a controlled-release, liposomal drug delivery system that employs a silicone polymer 3D mesh to trap liposomes on the scalp surface. This system is designed to maximize local drug exposure to hair follicles while significantly reducing systemic absorption and the associated risk of side effects. Finasteride acts as a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, blocking the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the primary hormone responsible for hair follicle miniaturization. Minoxidil acts as a vasodilator and potassium channel opener, stimulating hair follicles and enhancing scalp circulation. As a compounded medication, it is not FDA-approved as a combination product but is prescribed by licensed physicians using already-approved active pharmaceutical ingredients.
