Overview

Finolimab (QL1604) is a humanized monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor. Developed by Qilu Pharmaceutical, it acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor by blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2. This blockade prevents the suppression of T-cell activity, thereby enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and eliminate cancer cells. Finolimab is currently being investigated in several clinical trials, including a Phase II study at Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center for the neoadjuvant treatment of locally advanced laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma in combination with paclitaxel and platinum. It has also reached Phase III development for cervical cancer in China.
