Overview

Fiprima (filgrastim) is a biosimilar recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) developed by Eurofarma Laboratórios S.A. It is a 175-amino acid protein produced in *Escherichia coli* that lacks glycosylation and includes an N-terminal methionine. Fiprima functions as an agonist of the colony-stimulating factor 3 receptor (CSF-3R), which regulates the production, maturation, and activation of neutrophils within the bone marrow. The drug is indicated for the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in patients with non-myeloid malignancies, thereby reducing the incidence of febrile neutropenia and associated infections. Fiprima was the first biosimilar drug entirely developed and manufactured by the Brazilian pharmaceutical industry to be approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).
